Why this publication exists

AI hit production before most schools wrote the homework. Your boss got a demo. You got an API key and a deadline. Nobody packaged the truth about cost spikes, weird outputs, or how fast the meter spins. That gap is not genius. It is cold honesty about systems under pressure.

The Invariant fills that gap with first-principles explanations and directions you can actually follow. You ship products that still run when the vendor ships another model. You walk into the room without faking a PhD.

Background and perspective

Started coding young and spent nearly 25 years building across software, systems, and product.
Led architecture and engineering in high-growth teams, including director-level AI and tech leadership.
Focus areas include complex AI systems, distributed architecture, and decision-making when the model is the least predictable component.
I write from field experience: business outcomes, technical depth, and the implementation reality that shows up in logs.
